The Palmetto Partnership of All 4 Autism

Ambassadors of goodwill seeking to improve the quality of life for the under-served in our community.

It always takes me a few days to recover from our annual event. The two weeks before are the busiest of my entire year, because we want to make sure that we host an evening that truly represents us, and our mission. It is a time to celebrate our precious families and show gratitude for the donors, volunteers and partners that help us provide for those in need and grow as an organization. When we started this journey nine years ago, I had no idea what to expect, or if we would have enough support to last longer than a year. Those first years were the most joyous and overwhelming of my life. I had three kids - one in middle school, one in elementary school and a toddler. I doubted myself, often. There were long days, and times when I didn’t know if we could make ends meet. Even on the hardest days, there was always a reason to pick myself up and figure it out. I didn’t want anyone to know how hard things were, because I didn’t want to let anyone down. It took years for me to grant myself grace, and realize that the people that truly knew our story, understood my commitment and love for The Palmetto Partnership of All 4 Autism, no matter what others may think. We made the decision in the beginning to operate without state or federal funding so that our doors could be open to anyone that needed us, without jumping through the hoops of qualifying for services. That means everything we do is determined by the generosity of others. I will never be able to express how much the support of this community has meant to my family and me. I’m not the best at promoting our contributions or achievements. While I am very proud of all we have done, it’s never mattered who gets the credit. All I cared about was that our families were getting the support they needed and deserved. The decision to purchase our own building and expand our services to all disabilities was not taken lightly. There was a lot of discussion and prayer. For the first time since we began, we paused services last year to allow us time to develop our new mission and refurbish our new resource center. While services were paused, we were still working hard, as always, to provide our community with a place where they could gather, connect and belong. I am so proud of the friends and family that came together to make our new center a reality by rolling up their sleeves and be willing to do whatever needed to be done. Once again, I am overwhelmed by the new goals we hope to reach in the next year, but looking at these pictures and reading Brittni Branton’s words makes all the uncertainty and self doubt worth it. We may not be able to do it all, but for our families, we’ll damn sure try. Thank you for seeing us, and lifting us up, even when you may not need a thing from us. ... See MoreSee Less
